Entertainment as timekeeping. The sense that what you watched or listened to could lay structure upon a day, give it the feeling of undisputed progression, of passage between points that you shared with everyone else. I remember vividly the first time I heard a Trojan ad on my local Clear Channel…

The real irony here is that my parents always lamented the fact that we no longer share the same culture as we once did. Even when we were kids there were more channels to tune into then ever before. Back in the day, everybody watched X show at Y time, and not the everybody you think of, like your friends in your town, I mean everybody who was a citizen of the United States.

Nostalgia, if you don’t have it yet, just wait.

This is just priceless. So if someone gets drunk and I proceed to kill them, cut off their legs, flay them alive, etc. etc. etc. it’s okay by this logic. Because they were drunk. Clearly someone never thought this through, that or they really hate alcohol.
